dinner party themes

As a girly that loves to host parties *and* is a self-proclaimed foodie, dinner party themes are totally up my alley. I find that the best conversations and times with friends tend to happen over a yummy dinner. A dinner party is the perfect opportunity to get together with your friends to enjoy doing something we all have to do-- eat!

If you're looking to host a dinner party soon, you may find yourself overwhelmed by all of the potential theme ideas, in addition to the regular planning details. As a pro hostess at this point, I've rounded up the cutest dinner party themes to ensure your dinner party will be a hit and have your guests craving more dinner parties in the future!

This post is all about the cutest dinner party themes.

1. Around the World

I think this theme is such a fun way to try a variety of new foods! Have each of your friends bring a dish from a different region of the world and enjoy conversations around how each person chose their dish.

My friend group did this one time and it was SO much fun. All the yummy food was an added bonus.

2. A Smokin' Good Time

This dinner party theme is especially perfect for the beginning or end of summer. Decorating with classic red gingham details is *the* way to have a cookout.

3. Wine Down

This "Wine Down" theme is such a cozy theme for a dinner party. While the main attraction is the charcuterie boards and wine, you could also serve a dish that pairs well with those, like a pasta. These wine glasses and charcuterie board are a simple (but cute!) way to elevate the vibes.

4. Mamma Mia, It's a Pizza Party!

I want a pizza this party theme! Hahaha all bad jokes aside, this is such a cute idea. I found this table cloth and think it would pair so well with the candles to make for a classy pizza party.

5. Farmer's Market

As a lover of all things cottagecore, I am *living* for a farmer's market themed dinner party. I'm envisioning all of the pastels, wildflowers, and dishes made from fresh products from the market. For even more fun, I love the idea of you and your guests going to the market together to pick out the ingredients!

6. Soup and Sweaters

Calling all of my autumn-loving girlies! There is nothing more *fall* than a soup party. The host can make several different soups or, if she wants a little help, she can ask friends to bring a soup to share with the group. Either way, a warming mat is a must to keep the soups warm so you don't have to navigate plugging in a bunch of cords.

7. Black Tie

A black tie themed dinner is so elegant! I love the simple beauty of the black and white color scheme with pops of burgundy for some color. Encourage guests to wear something fancy for all of the extraaaa vibes. And to enhance the vibe, have a mini sign with each guest's name in front of their dinner plate.

8. NYC

This NYC theme is so fun and original! The possibilities for executing this idea are endless, but I love the NYT newspapers (or imitation posters!) and the star confetti. You could play classy jazz all evening or Broadway music.

9. Pasta and PJs

I've hosted a "Pasta and PJs" dinner party on a more casual scale and it was honestly so fun! We made our own pasta and had a cozy evening in to spill the tea. This idea passes the vibe check for our homebodies.

10. Spaghetti Western

I love this idea!! The fresh veggies and flowers on the table are the move, along with the baguette candle holder. I saw this burgundy streamer curtain and thought it went sooooo well with these cutie cowgirl plates and napkins.

11. Citrus-y Fresh

A "Citrus-y Fresh" theme is perfectly refreshing for a summer evening dinner party. The fruits and other citrus accents are great for decor, while the tangy flavors of the citrus amp up the deliciousness of the food!

12. Murder Mystery

Okayyy, I will be hosting a murder mystery dinner party sometime soon! The Polaroids paired with the black bows and pearls are everything for the suspect display. It's so helpful that you can buy a murder mystery game online so you can focus on planning the dinner.

13. A Night Amongst the Stars

I love a good celestial moment, so this "A Night Amongst the Stars" theme is calling to me! The disco balls and the stars paired with the candlelight is just so dreamy.

14. It's All Greek to Me

No products found.

If you're looking for a dancing queen good time, this is the dinner theme for you. Greek food is so yummy and light, so this idea is perfect for a late spring/early summer dinner party. I love the meander style plates and all of the florals!

15. Favorite Things

While a "Favorite Things" party is usually used to refer to friends bringing their favorite objects to share, I think this would be super fun as a themed dinner party! For double of the favorite things, guests can bring both a dish to share and a favorite product. Make sure to get these cutesy to-go containers so your friends can take home a variety of food options for snacking later!
