Quotes That Altered My Brain Chemistry This Week

As someone who loves a good nightly Pinterest scroll, sometimes I come across absolute gems of quotes that make me have to sit and stare at the wall for a minute. These are the quotes I came across that genuinely altered my brain chemistry this week.

quotes that altered my brain chemistry this week

These are the quotes I saved this week that gave me epiphanies about life. Ones that I really had to sit and think about for a second. Ones that really rewired my brain and opened my eyes.

I'll be pondering these for the next 5-10 business days if anyone needs me. I hope they do the same for you.

This post is all about quotes that altered my brain chemistry this week.

1. Creative People Putting That Energy In The Wrong Place

This one is prob the quote that blew my mind the most this week. I've never thought of it this way, but it makes so much sense.

2. Signs Of A Regulated Nervous System

When I think of having a regulated nervous system, I automatically think that being regulated is the equivalent of being the chillest person on Earth. This was a really nice reminder for me that being regulated doesn't have to mean being completely zen'd out all the time. It can mean laughing a little too loud with my sister in public, or crying non-stop on the Harry Potter Studio Tour (which I did recently when I was visiting London).

3. Pascal's Wager Of Hope

This was a nice reminder for me to just do the thing. Just give it a go and place your wager on hope.

4. The Chinese Bamboo Tree

If you've been putting a lot of effort into something and not seeing the results you want, this is for you.

5. On Being An Intense Woman

This message is very similar to the first quote in the list, and I view it as mostly a reminder that I need to make sure I'm putting my creative energy in the right places so I don't go insane.

6. The Memory Of The Mississippi River

If the text in the image is too small to read, it says, "You know, they straightened out the Mississippi River in places, to make room for houses and liveable acreage. Occasionally the river floods these places. 'Floods' is the word they use, but in fact it is not flooding; it is remembering. Remembering where it used to be. All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was."

A reminder that you will always be able to come back to yourself, no matter how warped and stretched and molded you become.

7. Brain Aging

I've been kind of obsessed with the concept of neuroplasticity lately. After a month in Europe where I was experiencing new things every single day, I keep reminding myself of this and how important it is to make room for new experiences. I cannot explain how much clearer-headed and more fulfilled I feel when I have novelty in my life.

8. On Authenticity

Being authentic can be scary, especially as someone who posts on social media where any of my posts could fall to the wrong side of the internet with no warning. I constantly try to remind myself of this and the fact that when you're truly being yourself, some people are probably going to hate you, but the right people are going to really love you. The only reward for catering to everyone is that people feel generally lukewarm about you. In trying to avoid the hate, you also avoid the love from the right people.
